Biblos Limestone Courtyard Paving and Ashlar Walls

A sunken courtyard where Biblos Limestone does two jobs at once. Coursed ashlar blocks in warm honey build the retaining walls, the twin stair flights and the voussoirs of a round arch, while the ground plane is paved in mixed flags that shift between grey, sand and rust. Tooling marks are still visible across the block faces and the paving joints have worn wide. It is a useful reference for hotel courtyards, entrance approaches, stair construction, garden architecture and restoration work on historic masonry.
