Reclaimed Antique Brick Wall Cladding Detail

A close study of the same reclaimed brick at arm's length, pointed in a wide pale grey mortar that sets every unit apart. The faces are terracotta and clay red, sandy in grain, crazed with fine surface cracks and torn along the long edges where the brick was cut free of its bed. The generous joint gives the wall a slower, more architectural rhythm than a tight bond would. Specified this way it works for facades, chimney breasts, courtyards, garden walls and interior cladding where the texture needs to be read up close.
